We found each other in the wild beauty of Madikwe Game Reserve, where chance brought us together at a lodge. Between the rustle of acacia trees and the calls of lions at night, we discovered more than just a shared love for nature – we discovered a love for each other. Out there, far away from city lights and modern distractions, we began to dream.
That dream quickly grew into a vision: to create something with our hands, to build a life together rooted in passion, and to share that passion with others. For us, food has always been more than sustenance – it’s a craft, an act of love, and a way of bringing people together. Breads, rolls, pastries, and delicate confections became the language of our creativity, the place where our passions intertwined.
Leaving the bush behind was not an easy step, but it was the beginning of something new. We chose to plant our roots in Howick, a community with heart and character, and one we are proud to now call home. Our bakery – The Woodfire Table Bakery – was born from the desire to blend craftsmanship with community, and to invite people into our journey.
Here, every loaf, every pie, every pastry is a reflection of who we are – honest, warm, and made with care. We bake with the belief that food should connect people: to each other, to tradition, and to the simple joy of sharing something truly good.
Our vision is not only to grow a bakery but to grow with the community around us. We want our space at St John’s Lifestyle Centre to be more than a shopfront – we want it to be a place where people feel welcome, where locals can gather, and where the love and effort behind our craft is tasted in every bite.

William – Owner & Operations Manager
With over 15 years of experience in the hospitality industry, William has built his career in hotels, resorts, and lodges both locally and abroad. His journey through hospitality has given him a deep appreciation for service, detail, and creating memorable guest experiences – values he now brings into the heart of the bakery.
Beyond his professional path, William has always had a love for good bread and freshly baked rolls. He proudly admits to having a terrible sweet tooth, which naturally fuels his passion for confectionery and pastries. Today, as owner and operations manager of The Woodfire Table Bakery, William combines his industry expertise with his personal love for food, ensuring that every aspect of the bakery reflects both quality and care.
Alicea – Co-Owner & Head Pastry Chef
Alicea’s love for baking began long before the bakery doors ever opened. What started as a creative outlet quickly grew into a true passion, as she found joy in the precision, patience, and artistry that baking requires. Known for her craftsmanship and natural flair in the kitchen, she has developed a reputation for breads, rolls, and pastries that are as beautiful as they are delicious.
With a belief that food is a way of connecting with people, Alicea pours her heart into every recipe. Her dedication to quality and creativity ensures that each bake carries a personal touch. Now, as co-owner and head baker of The Woodfire Table Bakery, Alicea brings her vision to life daily – sharing her passion for bread and confectionery with the Howick community she and William now call home.
